Corporate Responsibility

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY PAGES ARE UNDER REVIEW

What is Corporate Responsibility (CR)

The Government sees CR as the business contribution to our sustainable development goals. Essentially it is about how business takes account of its economic, social and environmental impacts in the way it operates – maximising the benefits and minimising the downsides.

Specifically, we see CR as the voluntary actions that business can take, over and above compliance with minimum legal requirements, to address both its own competitive interests and the interests of wider society. Click here to find out more about the case for CR

There is more information about the Government’s vision and ambitions for CR in its last report.

.

The Government set out its strategy to meet our goals for sustainable development in its 2005 UK Sustainable Development Strategy. You can find out more on www.sustainable-development.gov.uk.
